What you’ll be doing as a Principal Environmental Engineer Technical input into project definition briefs. Provide the technical sign-off and assurance during technical delivery, including handover. Ensure we comply with engineering-based regulatory requirements from an environmental point of view. Support the establishment of a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for engineering. Support establishing a cohesive, sustainable engineering structure from graduate to industry experts, leading Thames Water’s engineering requirements into AMP8 and beyond.

Hybrid – Clearwater Court, you will be required in the office and on-site as the business requires you. 36 hours a week, Monday - Friday.

What you should bring to the role Degree level in engineering or other appropriate technical qualifications in an engineering discipline. A professional charter of an appropriate professional body is desirable. Solid broad-based industry experience, with appropriate periods of specialisation and the ability to learn and apply that experience, including extensive experience in one or more of these areas: Carbon strategy and management, nature and catchment-based solutions, biodiversity management, and environmental assessments related to construction projects. Strong understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance. Ability to collaborate with and influence colleagues. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent analytical skills. Passion for continuous improvement, environmental challenges, and sustainable development.

What’s in it for you? Competitive salary. This role will have a car allowance of £5,800 per annum. 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service.
