Interim Principal Finance Officer Reference no: Hull 5262120 Pay Rate: £25.25 per hour PAYE 37 hours, Monday – Friday, 09:30 - 17:00 This opening assignment is for 2-3 months City: HULL We are looking for someone with strong accounting knowledge, who can interpret and analyse complex data along with a robust understanding of financial processes and procedures. You must have the ability to undertake financial modelling, build budgets and monitor forecasts, all of which are required within the role to provide support, advice and guidance to Council services. Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic financial leadership, advice, and direction to Assistant Directors, influencing the Council’s strategic objectives. Identify financial opportunities for service transformation. Lead by example, inspiring a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus, and value for money across Services and Directorates. Work in a matrix structure, managing pooled finance staff in line with Council procedures and best practice. Support business finance delivery, collaborating across the Finance and Transformation Directorate to integrate financial services into a cohesive strategy. Identify financial implications of major projects, acting as lead adviser where necessary. Manage external financial advisers to ensure governance and value for money. Advise on financial governance, working with senior leaders to improve systems and processes. Key Requirements:

CCAB-qualified Accountant. Possesses a detailed understanding of methods, systems and procedures, technical practices to manage areas of operational services. Management experience which demonstrates the ability to initiate, plan, monitor, develop and implement service provision. Experience of supporting the management of a substantial amount of financial, people and other resources. Experience of making change and service improvement in a complex environment. Experience in managing complex data and information from a variety of sources, and ability to analyse and interpret performance data. Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to receive and present complex, sensitive or contentious data to individuals and groups, overcoming barriers to communication. Strong relationship development and leadership skills with senior management, peers and direct reports. Ability to plan, manage and deliver complex projects.
