As a seasoned Engineer and Leader with significant experience in Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology, and ideally this would be within shallow or deepwater geotechnical environments. You should be chartered or seeking chartership with an appropriate professional body and active in encouraging more junior team members to do the same. You should have demonstrable experience in the planning, supervision and reporting of complex site investigations and soil characterisation campaigns, through detailed analysis of in-situ test data, laboratory testing results and a thorough grasp of engineering principals. Geotechnical experience in design of deep foundations, design of offshore piles and geohazard assessment is a distinct advantage. You should be experienced in the management of individuals and teams, collaboration with external and internal stakeholders, client and subcontractor relationship management, and delivery of large technical projects with associated engineering reporting, on time and to budget. The role involves oversight of site investigations which can span multiple years with extensive onshore laboratory testing campaigns involving testing from basic classification to advanced cyclic and dynamic campaigns. Technical reporting requirements range from Factual to Interpretive and Engineering Design. This is combined with a broader role within the management of the Engineering team, playing a key role in leadership, aligning with and implementing the goals of the Head of Engineering and Engineering Manager. You should have a well-developed technical network within the geotechnical industry and be energetic in delivery of R&D, research, technical publications, presentations and attendance at industry events. Your enthusiasm for this should be a source of inspiration for less experienced team members. At Geoquip Marine, we have our own large inhouse advanced geotechnical testing laboratory, also located in Bristol. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the testing specialists to deliver projects, increase our geotechnical testing capability and look for opportunities to develop industry relevant research initiatives. We operate within a flat leadership structure, allowing decisions to be made rapidly with minimal bureaucracy. Your ideas can flourish quickly. The Job Oversee and ensure the team's contributions to geotechnical aspects in planning, investigation, design, and construction. Monitor and deliver geotechnical outputs on time and within budget. Mentor junior team members and provide technical checks and inputs. Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and clients. Scope and prepare proposals and estimates. Manage a team of engineers on a project basis. Independently handle projects of standard to moderate complexity. Coordinate field and laboratory operations, solving problems and performing technical testing. Supervise and review lower-level engineer's instructions, calculations, and reports. Evaluate and develop foundation soil parameters independently. Monitor project budgets, schedules, and performance against KPIs. Assist in invoice preparation and training of lower-level professionals. Prepare engineering proposals and establish project pricing. Adhere to quality management systems and comply with HSE requirements. Represent and promote company services; maintain market presence. What can we offer?
