About The Role Are you a specialist in marine fish/shellfish ecology with experience in underwater noise? GoBe consultants, part of the APEM Group, are looking for a Principal Marine fish/shellfish consultant to join their team. As Principal Consultant, you will lead marine fish and shellfish ecology related workstreams, providing specialist input, advice, and strategic direction to clients and projects. You’ll manage and direct varied scale projects with multidisciplinary teams, planning and managing project workloads, leading related workstreams, and contributing to stakeholder liaison and client management. You’ll lead and mentor a team of consultants, with responsibility for the output of the relevant specialist workflow into the wider marine ecology team, including reviewing and signing off reports, and providing constructive feedback and coaching where required to ensure that all output is delivered in line with timescales agreed with the client, within budget, and to the highest technical quality. You will also have the opportunity to attend and present at appropriate business development events including networking events and conferences, and to work closely with the wider Group to expand the business across the UK, Europe, and worldwide. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a background in marine fish ecology and underwater noise, and experience in managing teams/workflows, who can apply their expertise and understanding to advise on fish mitigation and help expand our technical offering to our clients. You will be working within an experienced team of marine specialists, delivering a wide variety of projects across the UK and internationally. As part of the APEM Group, you will have the opportunity to deliver projects with cross-cutting expertise, not only in the marine sector, but across the wider Group. You will have: A degree (preferably MSc) in a relevant discipline (Marine Biology, Marine Sciences, etc.) Excellent written and oral communication, organisational and time management skills A professional manner with strong inter-personal skills and an ability to communicate at all levels An established track record on provision of marine fish and shellfish ecological advice, derived from a relevant career in consultancy, research or working for government Working knowledge of the technical assessments underpinning marine fish and shellfish ecology work Project delivery experience within wider programmes, input to large, high profile or complex projects. Experience in reviewing reports and project documents to ensure that they meet the highest technical standards, and the clients' aims and objectives.
