As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role sits within our client's Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, our role is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.

Our highly skilled team tackles major defence, decommissioning, new build and nuclear generation projects and has won over 78% of its latest tenders. Together, we're innovating to make nuclear safer, faster and cost-effective across the nuclear energy life cycle. We're also bringing the UK closer to Net Zero. Day to day, you could be creating cutting-edge designs, leading on project delivery or providing solutions to our many clients. Responsibilities

Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams. Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress. Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities. Ensure task and project risks are communicated and managed appropriately. Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports as assigned. Assess the implications of changes, concessions and queries. Maintain the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design lifecycle. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements. Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects. Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority. Act as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorised to do so. Exercise care for own health and safety and that of others as defined by Health and Safety legislation, adhere to endorsed Company policy, procedures and delegations (e.g. Health & Safety, Diversity & Inclusion, Performance & Development Reviews and Finance etc.). Qualifications

Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or equivalent experience. Holds or has the ability to obtain Chartered status. Essential skills

Nuclear experience is not a necessity, we welcome applications from all engineering backgrounds. You are someone who owns and delivers, who champions high performance and is courageous to challenge the status quo. Knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice.
