Principal Mechanical Engineer , you’ll use your expertise to lead mechanical engineering across concept, front end and detailed design of power plants, with a focus on Combined Cycle / Open Cycle gas turbine power generation. You’ll work primarily on Advanced Power Generation Solutions projects, including gas and Waste-to-Energy, and could support other solutions such as Hydrogen as Black & Veatch continues to grow in the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region. This role will focus on projects in our key growth markets – UK, Spain, UAE - in the short to mid term and will be based in the UK from our

Glasgow or London

city centre offices, with some travel throughout the EMEA region to our international offices, client sites and conferences expected on occasion. Black & Veatch offers a hybrid working schedule of 3 days in office, 2 days from home. Key Responsibilities

Concept, front end and detailed design of power plants. Act as subject matter expert on design, construction, operation and troubleshooting of combined cycle gas turbine power plants and open cycle gas turbine power plants. You may supervise engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity and/or serve as a technical specialist providing knowledge and expertise. Conduct inspections and support of inspection, commissioning and maintenance. Applying knowledge and experience of rotating plant operational problems, failure modes, mitigation strategies and repair techniques, particularly when applied to gas turbines and steam turbines, to assigned projects. Preferred Qualifications

Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills. Ability to share knowledge, mentor and train others where required. Advanced knowledge and application of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards. Experienced with concept, Front End and detailed design of power plants. Experienced with installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of power plant systems and equipment. Expertise in gas turbines and plant e.g. OCGT AND CCGT. Chartered Engineer IMechE or equivalent. Experience of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) and similar. Knowledge of relevant UK, EU, US and international engineering standards. Experience with analysing CCGT performance data to determine root cause and corrective actions for operational issues. Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
