Department for Health and Wellbeing – Corporate & Systems Support Services – Corporate Communications Branch Salary: $108,109 to $116,864 – ASO7 – Full Time / Term Contract up to 24 Months Overview: The SA Health Media Unit coordinates all media responses, interviews and press conferences for the Department for Health and Wellbeing and South Australian public health system including local health networks, the Rural Support Service and shared services including Breast Screen SA, SA Dental, SA Medical Imaging and SA Pathology. Working in a fast-paced environment as part of a supportive team, our Principal Media Adviser is responsible for providing comprehensive strategic media and communications services for SA Health. You’ll work closely with the policy makers, doctors, nurses and health executives, while based between metropolitan hospitals and the Department for Health and Wellbeing’s office in Hindmarsh Square, Adelaide. The ideal candidate has proven experience delivering press releases, media events, managing high stakes issues as well as working closely with a variety of key executives – complemented with strong written and verbal communication skills: The Principal Media Adviser is a key leader of the SA Health Media Unit, responsible for protecting and promoting the reputation and services of SA Health. This involves leading the research, development and implementation of media strategies, responses and crisis communications, working collaboratively with the Media Manager and senior SA Health executives on a broad range of plans, programs, campaigns and services. The role also coordinates the effective day-to-day operational management and leadership of a small team of Media Advisers who are direct reports to the role.
