Wednesday 29th January & Thursday 30th January Astrea Academy Trust is looking for an experienced senior leader to become the new Principal of Netherwood Academy, an 11-16 academy in Barnsley. The school has been on an impressive journey of improvement and as the current Headteacher retires, Netherwood Academy is now primed for its next leader. This is a truly fantastic opportunity to lead this vibrant, Ofsted rated Good school, as it takes the next critical steps towards excellence. Astrea Academy Trust is committed to never settling for second best, and our aim is that every child in our 26 academies across South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire gets a brilliant education, removing any barriers to achieving this. We are committed to a scholarly culture, a knowledge-rich curriculum, and a traditional approach to teaching and behaviour, where children can learn, thrive and go on to lead successful lives. Whether you are an existing, successful Headteacher or an outstanding, tenacious Deputy Headteacher, leading Netherwood Academy into the future will be a career-defining move. The academy requires an aspirational and dynamic leader, with a strong inner core, an unwavering commitment to all children achieving their very best, and a talent for bringing staff, students and the community together in a shared vision. You will have a flair for motivating others, embedding strong cultures of academic success, and commanding respect from staff and pupils alike. As Principal, you will have the opportunity to lead the school to become a beacon of excellence in the area, ensuring pupils have an exceptional educational offer and the very best opportunities that they deserve. To support you to achieve this, you will have access to the support and resources of Astrea Academy Trust. This includes the expertise of a Regional Director, as well as a highly effective team of national subject leads and Central Support for Finance, HR, Estates and other functions. If you are aligned to our mission and values, have an excellent track record of school leadership and a drive to do more, we would love to hear from you.
