As aPrincipal Physicist you will play a pivotal role in performing and leading UKAEA research into either Exhaust Experiments or Integrated Scenario Modelling in support of the UKAEA scientific programme on MAST-U and other national and international experimental devices. You will perform and lead UKAEA studies, in the chosen field, in support of the UKAEA programme to design STEP and other national and international experimental devices. You will also be expected to develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators, advise senior UKAEA management on strategy in the research field, and represent UKAEA at international meetings. And also, communicating results through presentations at regular internal and external meetings, written reports, conferences, and peer reviewed journal papers. Additional Responsibilities: Lead and mentor Early Career researchers. Co-supervise and develop placement and PhD students. £67,023 (inclusive of MPP) + excellent benefits including outstanding pension PhD or equivalent in physics, engineering, or a closely-related discipline. Broad knowledge of tokamak-plasma physics with emphasis on the relevant field of research. Substantial research experience, international recognition, and an excellent publication record in the field of research. Experience in leading an interdisciplinary team of senior and junior researchers in an international research environment. An excellent team-player with an outward facing work-ethos as will work closely with scientists around the world.
