Optimus is a FEED and Concept design specialist, but also undertakes detail brownfield and greenfield design scopes through to fabrication. Working with the design team, the Lead Designer shapes the project and aids in the creation of the schedule, resource allocation and time assignments. The Lead Designer is responsible for ensuring that designs meet client requirements including gathering specific information within the project cycle and designing solutions. Assurance of competence of design personnel under the Lead Designer’s control. Identification of personnel shortfalls and submission of proposal to the Design Team Leader for solutions such as training, coaching or replacement. Liaison with the Design Team Leader to identify areas for development and to implement improvements in working practices. Early identification to the Lead Engineer / Design Team Leader of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified. Identification of design scope of work required to undertake a project/job. Estimation of deliverables, manpower and time required to execute the scope of work. Input to project plans and schedules via the Lead Engineer. About You

The ideal design candidate should be proficient in / at: Piping and support layout for offshore and onshore O&G / petrochemical and industrial plants, with previous experience in the role. Plant 3D admin and setup ideal but not essential. Laser scan manipulation, formatting and interrogation. 2D AutoCAD skills are also required for drawing production. MS Office. Concept and detail layout skills. Fabrication isometric and pipe support drawing production and checking. Survey sketches to a high standard. MTO production. A current offshore survival and medical is preferred. Candidates may be required to occasionally visit on or offshore sites for survey purposes, however not for extended periods. The candidate shall have good attention to detail, be a proficient and experienced checker, along with excellent communication skills and ability to discuss and articulate conceptual and detail designs.
