Product Group is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the BBC's portfolio of digital products, including iPlayer, Sounds, Bitesize, and the BBC News and BBC Sport apps and website. Our focus is on driving engagement across our portfolio, making the BBC online a valued daily habit for all audiences.
Key Responsibilities
The Principal Analytics Developer will support the newly created Product Data Domain teams. Responsibilities include: Planning workloads and delegating tasks in an agile environment. Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of dimensional data models. Defining best practices in dimensional data modelling and database design. Mentoring and coaching team members in developing data modelling skills. Automating data pipelines using proprietary BBC technology & Airflow. Developing processes for data product development. Supporting analytics, data science, and other colleagues in managing projects. Building and maintaining strong working relationships.
Are you the right candidate?
We look for the following skills: Technical Skills At least 5 years' experience in a Data Analyst, Data Modelling, Data Engineering, or Analytics Engineering role. Proven experience in dimensionally modelling complex data. Excellent SQL skills for extracting and manipulating data. Good knowledge of analytical database systems (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery). Some experience coding in R or Python.
Teamwork and Stakeholder Management Ability to listen to others' ideas and build on them. Ability to clearly communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to collaborate effectively.
