The Great Yarmouth & Waveney Youth Team covers a beautiful coastal area, from South Norfolk down to Southwold where you can expect big stretches of sandy beaches, iconic seaside towns and friendly villages set in the heart of the Broads National Park. We are the Youth Team, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, a multi-disciplinary Team promoting positive Mental Health in Young People aged 14 to 25 years. We strive to be dynamic and creative and are dedicated Mental Health Professionals, focusing on the needs of Young People and providing a needs-led approach to working and seek like-minded clinicians to work alongside us in supporting Young Peoples Wellbeing and Mental Health. Our absolute commitment is to improve the lives of children and young people by providing a mental health service we can be proud of. A service that shows compassion, kindness and hope at a time when families need it most.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive specialist clinical psychology assessment of complex clients within the service. This includes the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service user's care.

Qualifications

Essential

Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS Further post-qualification, postgraduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable

Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

Essential

Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity. Application of psychology in different cultural contexts Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist and evidence of specialist knowledge gained through practice and ongoing training

Skills

Essential

Use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Assessment, evaluation and management of risk associated with mental ill health and related psychopathology Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively complex, highly technical and clinically highly sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS

Knowledge

Essential

Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities etc.) Practitioner level knowledge of at least two models of psychological therapy Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS

Other

Essential

Capacity to exercise careful clinical judgement whilst having the ability to work with and to hold the stress of others in the work setting Able to identify, and employ appropriate clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice Ability to travel independently
