The perinatal mental health team are looking to appoint a band 8b Principal Applied Psychologist secondment to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team.

Applicants will be required to have post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Significant experience and competencies in delivering and supervising evidence-based psychological intervention for SMHP is also essential.

Main duties of the job

A key part of the role is to provide direct clinical work into the Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire (HHR) team and contribute to the leadership of the whole service across NY&Y. Promote psychological thinking with all members of the team by helping staff to develop formulations for clients, offering supervision and joint work with the team, supporting staff wellbeing, and providing training in psychological theory and its implementation.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working psychologically with people who experience severe mental health problems and competencies in an evidence-based psychological therapy for SMHP. They will contribute to the collective clinical leadership of the service. They will be responsible for the provision of specialist psychological assessment and formulation, and the delivery of evidence-based psychological therapy and clinical supervision. The post holder will contribute to service development and improvement within the locality and the professional leadership of psychological professions.
