Our Manchester office is seeking a Sustainability and Carbon Team Leader who is a highly capable Sustainability and Carbon specialist with extensive experience in embedding sustainability into large scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies who can hit the ground running while providing team/line management. Our Sustainability and Carbon team advises clients on how they can decarbonise their activities alongside increasing performance across other areas of sustainability. Some of our work includes industry-leading Decarbonisation / Net Zero Roadmaps, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, Sustainability Assessments, TCFD and Carbon Accountancy amongst many others – all while leveraging the latest digital tools. Due to the overarching nature of sustainability and the need for far reaching action, our team works across all sectors; large scale energy projects, water, rail, highways, airports and local and central government. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other teams across the business, at the strategic level as well as through the lifecycle of major infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities: Leading on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for our existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients. Leading the development of innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions and management plans. Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects. When required, represent the company at external networks and continue to build their personal, team and company reputation. Lead and support bid proposals, helping to author our submissions and ensuring win themes are retained throughout. Lead the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development. Requirements: The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental / engineering related discipline and will be chartered with a recognised relevant professional body. Relevant experience and up to date knowledge in some of the following is required: carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, supply chain engagement. Have strong report writing, communication and presentation skills which can be tailored to a range of audiences, seniorities and technical competencies. Understand UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure and in corporate reporting, across both the public and private sector.
