As part of Peterborough City Council, a unitary authority, you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy. You will have the opportunity to scope and commission innovative new Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and flood alleviation projects, including our upcoming Grey-to-Green project. Your work will significantly influence future developments through the planning process, allowing you to make a meaningful impact.
You will work closely with our partnership organisations to develop collaborative projects and assist in sourcing third-party funding for projects throughout the city, while ensuring we meet our statutory duties under the Flood & Water Management Act 2010, the Highways Act 1980, and other relevant flood-related regulations and local policies. As Principal Officer, you will be instrumental in establishing this new service and lead the team through this period of change while collaborating with major developers.
All about You You have a good understanding of legislation and guidance regarding drainage, planning and development, and flood risks. You have good communication and interpersonal skills. You are willing and able to travel across Peterborough for site visits and meetings.
All about our Team Additionally, as part of the combined team, you will have the chance to collaborate closely with colleagues in the Highway Development Control team. This role will allow you to deepen your understanding of highway control, from pre-application stages to on-site implementation. You will also influence how Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are applied to adoptable highways.
