Principal Systems Engineer – Defence Sector Location : Isle of Wight, Cowes Salary : Up to £70,600 + 10% incentive bonus Hybrid Working Are you ready to step into a pivotal role within the defence sector, working on cutting-edge radar systems that support those who serve and protect us? This is your opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team developing current and next-generation radar products for Future Air Dominance. What You’ll Be Doing: Tackling complex challenges in the design and development of Multi-Function Radar Systems. Applying Systems Engineering principles to steer technical solutions and resolve engineering issues. Managing system design trade-offs and specifying robust product designs. Leading the decomposition of requirements to system and sub-system levels using tools like IBM DOORS Next. Collaborating with experts across various disciplines to realise holistic system design solutions. Driving system integration, test planning, and execution. Articulating system acceptance strategies to stakeholders and ensuring performance across diverse operational scenarios. Essential Skills and Experience: Knowledge in areas such as signal processing, target tracking, object classification algorithms, and sensor optimisation. An understanding of real-world factors impacting sensing system performance and design objectives. Experience in Systems Engineering, including familiarity with standards like ISO 15288. Confidence in presenting technical and non-technical information in formal settings. The Team: Join a close-knit, interdisciplinary radar team that is evolving a portfolio of innovative radar products to counter emerging threats. Collaborate with engineers across electronics, software, mechanical, and electrical disciplines in a role that places you at the forefront of future technologies. On-Site Collaboration: While flexible working arrangements are available, this role requires regular on-site collaboration in Cowes, ensuring seamless teamwork and alignment on classified projects.
