INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. West Lothian Council is committed to far-reaching changes in the delivery of our Education Services. These changes include providing the support and environment necessary for you to excel in your role and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and our continuous improvement in service delivery. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our committed and dynamic staff team at Balbardie PS as Principal Teacher. We are a non-denominational primary school serving the town of Bathgate and are proud to celebrate our 120th anniversary this year. Balbardie PS and Bathgate Early Years Centre are part of the Bathgate Academy cluster of schools. We collaborate with colleagues across all 6 schools to deliver a diverse and inclusive learning experience. Our school roll is currently 346 learners across 14 mainstream classes and 3 specialist resource classes. The Bathgate Early Years Centre, an integral part of our school community, has a roll of 130. In addition to an enthusiastic team of class teachers, we have 7 Pupil Support Workers and 6 Advanced Pupil Support Workers who support learning for groups and individuals at all stages of the school. The successful candidate will join a Senior Leadership Team of 6, which includes the Headteacher, the Depute Headteacher, and 3 existing Principal Teachers. Balbardie PS has a strong reputation within the community and is well supported by an active Parent Council and wider parent forum. The Parent Council works closely with the school to identify areas for improvement. We have established strong partnerships with various local organisations and groups. Distributed leadership is promoted across the whole staff team, and collegiate approaches enhance a positive climate for learning throughout the school. A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, and the cost will be met by the candidate.
