Job Description We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. West Lothian Council is committed to far-reaching changes in the way we deliver our Education Services. These changes include providing you with the support and environment you need to excel in your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council's achievement of the Investors in People Standard and our continuous efforts to improve service delivery. Beatlie School provides education for pupils with profound, severe, and complex learning difficulties aged between 3 and 18 years. The school catchment area covers the whole of West Lothian Council. The school has recently moved to a brand new building that has been purpose-built to support the complex needs of the children who attend. The curriculum at Beatlie is child-centred and aims to consider the whole child, taking into account each individual's needs, personality, and age. We provide a broad, balanced curriculum within the National Framework for Curriculum for Excellence. Multi-sensory and interactive methods ensure the curriculum is dynamic and meaningful for each pupil. Our teaching staff and advanced pupil support workers are highly skilled, and ongoing training is provided to ensure all children are nurtured and cared for while receiving outstanding learning experiences. Staff are creative and caring, able to recognize and celebrate each pupil's individual successes and achievements. The complexities of medical, physical, and sensory needs require school staff to work closely and collaboratively with Allied Health Professionals to ensure each child receives the appropriate medical and educational supports to meet their needs. There is a very positive and productive ethos across the school. Staff, parents, and partners work well together to create a whole school community that provides the best possible care for our children. A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, and the cost will be met by the candidate. The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59, or for Existing Members, it is £18. Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer. It is important to note that in certain recruitment situations, such as high-volume, seasonal, and high-peak times, the employer may wish to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people.
