Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Town Planner to join a reputable planning consultancy in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a wide range of planning projects, providing expert advice, and leading the development of high-quality planning solutions for a variety of clients. Key Responsibilities:

Lead planning applications and development proposals from inception to approval, ensuring successful outcomes. Provide expert planning advice across residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects. Manage and prepare complex planning submissions, including applications, appeals, and representations. Coordinate and collaborate with clients, local authorities, statutory consultees, and other key stakeholders. Prepare detailed planning reports and supporting documentation for planning applications and appeals. Conduct site appraisals and feasibility studies, identifying planning risks and opportunities. Mentor and guide junior planners, fostering their professional development. Keep up to date with changes in planning legislation, policies, and best practices. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Represent planning interests at meetings with clients and local authorities.

Skills & Experience:

RTPI membership (or working towards) is essential. Proven experience in town planning, with a thorough understanding of the UK planning system. Demonstrated experience leading planning applications and managing projects across various sectors. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships and expectations. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing multiple projects effectively. Experience in development management and strategic planning is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of local planning policy and legislation. Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
