My client, a multinational defence company, are currently seeking a Principle High Voltage Electrical Engineer (HV authorised person - AP15 or equivalent) to join their Submarine Division in a permanent capacity, to provide specialist support to the business with respect to electrical standards and requirements, the team support a wide range of electrical disciplines with opportunities to develop in Power Distribution, Control & Instrumentation and Communications.
As the site infrastructure grows you can be a play a part in the development of new facilities and help drive improvements in aging and existing electrical installations.
The role will be based at my clients busy and secure site in Barrow-In-Furness, with the requirement to be site based approx. 3 days a week. As this role is focused on the sites I&F, the requirement for site attendance could increase from time to time.
The successful applicants responsibilities will include writing switching programmes and the management of the HV network, Technical investigations/Problem solving, design reviews, reporting on HV Substations and switching operators but also acting as HV point of contact.
Due to the nature of our clients work, the role may require the successful applicant to hold security clearance to SC level or be will and able to undergo the Vetting process to achieve this.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing the High Voltage (HV) network infrastructure for the Barrow site
- Manage HV work orders
- Setting standards and requirements relating to Electrical Infrastructure upgrades
- Review and assess design proposals for new infrastructure and modifications
- Carry out technical investigations and input into problem solving engineering issues
- Provide discipline support as a subject matter expert
- Production and update of technical reports and standard documentation
Your skills and experiences:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working on HV installations, writing HV switching programmes
- HV authorised person (AP15 or equivalent)
- Working towards CEng or ability to attain
