What you will do: Conduct initial health assessments for new inmates to establish their health needs. Provide care for acute and chronic medical conditions, including administering medications and treatments with precision. Deliver emergency care as required, including resuscitation and first aid to those in urgent need. Perform minor procedures, such as wound care and phlebotomy, ensuring optimum patient care. Work collaboratively with mental health professionals to support inmates experiencing mental health challenges. Recognise and respond to signs of self-harm, substance misuse, or suicidal ideation with empathy and professionalism. Educate inmates on health and well-being topics, including smoking cessation, nutrition, and disease prevention. Support rehabilitation by encouraging healthy lifestyle changes with the goal of improving overall inmate health. Work closely with prison staff, GPs, and external healthcare providers to ensure seamless healthcare delivery. Ensure accurate and confidential record-keeping in line with professional and legal standards. Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to comprehensive care plans. Adhere to all prison and healthcare policies, including safeguarding protocols and infection control standards.
