This is an excellent opportunity to develop experience in a broad-based team, recognised for providing a real alternative to the City for complex private client matters given the quality of their offering. The Chambers-rated Private Wealth Team works predominantly with individuals falling into the “high-net-worth” category (which typically refers to those with personal assets totalling £5m-£20m) across the full spectrum of private client matters. This will include, but not be limited to: Lifetime and succession planning. Advising on the structure of Wills as part of a broader estate planning strategy. Lasting Powers of Attorney. Keep legal knowledge up to date and continue personal and professional development. The private client team is a critical part of the firm’s business and the work undertaken by the team represents a significant % of the firm’s turnover. Representative cases include: Working closely with a wealthy local family to assist them with succession and tax planning over many generations. Advising a long-standing client on the inheritance tax aspects on the reorganisation of his fund management business to enable new talent to be incentivised and brought into the business. Dealing with a complex international probate where the deceased had assets in the UK, Portugal and Thailand. Working alongside a very successful entrepreneur (net wealth £250m+) to consider a complex trust history for part of the business and whether this structure should be revised in light of current circumstances. Advising on generational estate and trust planning for landed estate clients. This is a genuine opportunity to progress your career with a top-tier practice and work with leaders in the field. Whether the end client requires advice on legal and tax structuring for business and investments, family and business governance, tax and estate planning, or help with a vulnerable person, the firm delivers tailored solutions to meet a specific need. A significant volume of the work is for HNWI so any previous experience advising related clients would be an advantage. You can expect to advise a number of family offices and international families as to their ongoing affairs and international trust structures, including private trust company structures. You can also expect to work closely with a number of business families advising on existing structures set up for the management and governance of the family business, its interaction with family trusts and associated estate planning measures.
