Regular Manchester - Lubricant Additives The lubricant additives business unit's product portfolio includes synthetic base oils, lubricant additives, additive packages, and formulated lubricants used in various industries such as automotive, mechanical engineering, metal processing, shipbuilding, and aviation. These lubricants are applied in engines, gearboxes, and other industrial applications across power-generation, refrigeration, mining, construction, primary metal, and food processing industries. Join Our Team as a Process Safety Engineer! Are you passionate about creating a safer workplace in chemical manufacturing? At Lanxess, we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Process Safety Engineer to lead our Process Safety Management (PSM) program. This role will allow you to work across our Trafford Park site and ISO Tank maintenance facility in Deeside, ensuring compliance, safety, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Reporting to: Head of Process Engineering and Projects

What You’ll Do

As our Process Safety Engineer, you’ll be a cornerstone of our safety initiatives. Your key responsibilities will include: Ensuring compliance with UK regulations, corporate standards, and COMAH requirements. Leading and monitoring HAZOPs, HACs, and other risk assessment studies, ensuring timely implementation of actions. Supporting and overseeing the Management of Change (MoC) process and applying Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) methodologies. Providing expert input on capital projects, including safety-related calculations (e.g., safety valves). Investigating process safety incidents with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and supporting resolution strategies. Driving the Human Factors Assessment program and coordinating process safety training. Taking an active role in internal audits (e.g., ISO9001/14001) and COMAH intervention visits, supporting audit preparation and follow-up actions. Preparing and analysing Process Safety KPIs, reporting insights to the Manufacturing Management Team. Playing a key role in the MEC Support Team, including serving as MEC Duty Manager when required. Requirements

We’re looking for an experienced Process Safety Engineer with an educational background in chemical engineering. You will be someone with expertise and drive who has: Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer, ideally in a COMAH facility. Proficiency in HAZOP, RCA, LOPA, SIL, PHA, and MOC methodologies. Strong knowledge of process and equipment design principles. A thorough understanding of UK HS&E regulations (e.g., DSEAR, ATEX) and relevant standards (e.g., IEC61511). Exceptional communication, presentation, and report-writing skills. Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of SAP is desirable. Why Lanxess?
