In this key role, you will Manage and support end-to-end procurement activities, from supplier selection and negotiations to contract management, ensuring seamless delivery. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, develop innovative sourcing strategies, and foster strong supplier relationships that drive cost savings and operational efficiencies. Maintain up-to-date commercial, financial, and legal knowledge while monitoring market trends to proactively identify changes and opportunities impacting procurement strategies. Actively promote the Procurement Team by providing expert advice and guidance across departments, ensuring awareness of procurement best practices. Collaborate with other NHS trusts, Hubs and regional/national bodies in establishing relationships to procure goods and services where joint commitment will yield enhanced value for money. Identify and implement savings opportunities which will deliver efficiencies to the Trust via cost reduction, cost avoidance, demand management or improvements to quality. Take responsibility for the negotiation of contracts/purchase agreements for goods and services not covered by existing formalised arrangements, where appropriate inviting quotations and tenders on behalf of the Trust. Support improvements to the delivery of key performance criteria for the department including Model Hospital metrics and Lord Carter metrics. Support the delivery of national initiatives via NHS Impact, NHS England and Department of Health or others, including delivery of the Procurement Target Operating Model and National Contracted Products Audits supplier performance and develops value for money process improvements on a recurring basis, sharing findings with colleagues and other Confederations, GPS and NHS agencies. Uses initiative to improve results, share good practice and develop team working through training, mentoring etc. About us

Qualifications

4 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply (CIPS), or actively studying towards Degree and/ or an appropriate professional qualification A number of demonstrable years experience within a buying role including formal tendering. Understand tenders and quotes knowledge

Knowledge of EU/UK procurement legislation and public sector procurement regimes Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of procurement and supply chains Working knowledge of NHS policies and national agendas Experience

Experience of negotiating contracts in a large organisation with a track record of achieving cost reductions Experience of working on complex tenders Experience of procurement in a health sector environment Relevant experience of public or commercial sector procurement Disclosure and Barring Service Check
