The Role

Our technical team are looking for a strong and confident individual to work within a team of quality experts, alongside the Buying & Merchandising functions. This role will report directly to the Technical Manager and manage a dedicated area of our womenswear or menswear collections. This is a role where you can work at pace, develop your technical skills and continue to learn. You will support on the brand quality strategy, to protect and enhance the Brands reputation for delivering safe, compliant and commercial product, supporting sales and profitability through the delivery of consistent product quality, sizing & fit, to ensure customer satisfaction, maximise sales and mitigate customer returns. In Garment Technology, we obsess about our products' quality, design, and fit. We collaborate daily with the Buying and Design teams across the Debenhams brands. We’ve even opened an in-house lab. For us, it’s all about speed, being commercial and ensuring our customers look and feel their best. What you'll be doing

You will be working alongside our buying team, to improve fit and work with suppliers to improve quality. Conduct fit sessions for own product area(s) in-house, balancing speed and quality; making commercial decisions with confidence; owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from colleagues and suppliers. Send clear, concise and accurate comments to suppliers; processing samples in a timely and agile manner, in line with KPI’s. Liaising with design, buying and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs and improving quality. Ensuring compliance with product safety and reach legislation; assessing risk, advising on relevant testing; recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently. Contributing to initiatives to reduce customer returns. Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude. Working with us

We would like you have experience in a product quality role, ideally within an online fashion retailer or supplier so that you are able to show a good understanding of product quality standards, regulatory requirement and testing methodologies. You will be managing commercial fit & product approval processes, within a fast-paced, competitive market so should show experience of being able to handle this. With your strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive informed decisions, you will be able to show good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. Ideally, you will be familiar with sustainability and ethical sourcing practices and have experience gained in a manufacturing environment is going to be a bonus. We would like to see an ability to analyse data including identifying high returns, returns efficiency, returns cost to customer vs to brand and customer returns feedback with high understanding of product including the production process, fabric quality and garment construction, block reviews and call off/review high returning product. They will go through your experience in more detail and find out what value you could bring to the team. Alongside a fit session trial. Most of our processes are 2 stages but you may be required to meet Senior Leadership.
