The hours are 40 per week Monday to Friday with a flexible start time of between 07:00 and 09:00 and an end time of between 15:30 and 17:00.
Summary Our client is a world-leading manufacturer in the public transport industry. All design and development, as well as the majority of production, is carried out in their excellent working environment based in Lewes.
Growing rapidly, our client has seen a significant increase in sales over the last 3 years, which is impacting the operational teams. They are looking for a Product Manager with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
We are rolling out a Cloud-based software platform that will enable our customers to remotely monitor and update their equipment on their buses in real-time. To assist us during this exciting period of growth and positive change, we are seeking an experienced Product Manager with a strong track record in technical product training and support. The candidate should be comfortable with software technology, particularly SaaS solutions, ideally within the public transport industry, to support our sales team as we transition to our new Cloud-based platforms.
The role will also include supporting our sales team with complex technical tenders and requests, requiring a good understanding of both hardware (electronics) and software systems and interfaces.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative skills, as the role requires developing strong, supportive relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internally (primarily with Sales, Product Development, and Technical Support) and externally, with new and existing customers.
The role will be UK-based, although some international travel will be expected from time to time, for example, to attend industry exhibitions, support overseas sales staff with product training, and conduct customer visits.
Key Responsibilities Support the business by providing regular product training and learning programs to various internal departments (Sales and Technical Support Engineers) both in the UK and abroad. Work with our sales team and customer base to onboard customers to Cloud and other new product lines and provide ongoing oversight and product support. Network and build strong relationships both internally and externally with end customers (public transport operators) to ensure a seamless transition from older to new generation products. Assist Sales by attending customer visits and product demonstrations, answering technical sales inquiries and specifications. Support the Sales Director in developing and implementing our technical and software sales strategy. Assist in developing customer requirements and implementation to ensure we provide the most feature-rich products possible. Stay informed of trends across the public transport industry and how new software and technology developments can benefit our customers.
Essential Requirements Extensive customer management experience at a senior level. High-level technical background in electronics and/or software to understand development and technical requests from customers. High aptitude and ability to quickly learn about our products, including how hardware connects and communicates over serial, Ethernet, and other industry-standard communication networks. Excellent knowledge of Cloud technology and the ability to communicate complex points such as software functionality, hosting infrastructure, and security in clear and simple terms to both colleagues and customers. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact well with internal and external stakeholders to help smoothly introduce significant changes within a well-established business and customer base. Ability to prioritize and organize work and tasks in a dynamic and changing technical environment. Self-motivated with initiative and a drive to succeed.
Desired Skills Experience and knowledge of the bus industry is highly desirable. Some knowledge of electronics and on-vehicle electrical systems (troubleshooting, software/hardware) would be beneficial. Foreign language skills would be useful.
