One year Fixed Term Contract – Fully remote, UK based

We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to help progress the next stages of our in-house “SIMSID” Authentication and School Authorisation application. The product has been in development for over 10 years and includes a number of different services and technologies, from older legacy classic cloud applications through to modern AKS hosted services.

SIMSID is the front door to many of the group applications. As such, the successful candidate must be able to understand the true needs of customers and be passionate about building experiences that customers love and find simple. Working as part of an Agile delivery team, you will have a solid understanding of technical concepts and be able to effectively translate requirements between business value and technical implementation. You will contribute towards the discovery, definition, delivery, performance and support of products in the SIMSID suite and future integration points

We are looking for a strong all-rounder who has experience as a storyteller and technical liaison, can adapt to communicate the product vision effectively to both technical and business stakeholders and can efficiently manage collaboration and prioritisation of requirements across multiple teams. A solid understanding and experience of wider business success criteria including requirements from Support, Sales and Marketing will be beneficial. Key Responsibilities

Develop an understanding of the market segment and product positioning. Consistently evaluate and become the expert in the domain space. Collaborate with the Product Manager to understand the product vision and roadmap and translate this into executable features and deliverables. Define user journeys, process maps and use cases to feed a prioritized product backlog aligning to product strategy that can be delivered by adding value in a frequent and incremental manner Continually obtain and assess customer feedback and adapt the backlog accordingly Work with delivery teams to investigate and prioritise customer issues. Liaising with customers as required Work closely with stakeholders on delivery teams (developers, QA, delivery managers) in designing, implementation and testing of the solutions. Work effectively with other POs and Delivery Managers across multiple programmes and cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix environment.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum 3 years in a Product facing role Technical background or evidence of working with technical requirements Ability to liaise with Customers clearly and professionally to understand true product requirements and support customer issues. Experience with gathering and analysing data from multiple sources Clear understanding of PO role and proficient in working with Agile Delivery practices in a multi-programme environment. Solid awareness & understanding of PII, Security Concepts and GDPR regulations Presentational skills to facilitate internal and external business focused Product demonstrations Ability to deal with multiple streams of work and support cases in a high-stakes environment An understanding of Authentication and Authorisation processes beneficial Continuous Improvement mindset. Advances by ongoing, incremental improvement through continuous learning, questioning the status quo and trying out creative and novel ideas. Shows curiosity and has a keen interest to drive learning for themselves and others Ownership & Accountability: Takes personal accountability and ownership for their work. This includes personal follow through, making and defending difficult decisions and tradeoffs, removing blockers, driving collective progress.
