Job offered by: Metro Bank Plc

We have been awarded the “Most Loved Workplace”! At Metro Bank, people come first – our culture is all about bringing the best out in our colleagues, and making sure everyone feels valued, respected, seen and included. We strongly believe in a diverse and inclusive workplace and to find the very best person for the job, we always look across a wide range of diverse communities. What you will do:

Create amazing customer/end user centric journeys and processes. Build up a picture of your customers/end users – who they are, what they enjoy, what they need and what makes them FANS (focus groups, segmentation analysis). Be data driven! With a passion for asking what we are building and why it is important. Create the Vision and Objectives for the product and communicate this to your feature team. Define, prioritise and sequence the backlog of user stories, working with cross-functional feature teams to bring new propositions and features to life. Break down deliverables into a Minimal Viable Product (MVP), working with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these to engineering for delivery. Ensure there is constant communication and transparency with how the product is evolving and performing. Build up the roadmap for their product for the short and medium terms (6-12 months and 1-2 years). Hold ideation sessions to discuss ideas and ways to solve a problem – you set the What? and Why? Use KPIs as a measure of success and progress for changes, and understand the need and power of benefit realisation. Present at demo sessions and communicate proof of concepts to senior stakeholders. Work in agile methodologies and support the teams to deliver by providing context, priority order and quick clarifications where queries arise. Collaborate with the UI/UX teams and CX where appropriate, and bring these functions into the ideation process. And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the ability to call out any concerns. What you will need:

Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders. You may have previously worked as a Product Owner or Product Manager within another organisation – Financial Services experience is not essential. Experience of creating and managing digital products, developing journeys for online platforms. Knowledge of basic technology including APIs, UI, Logging, Alerting and load testing. Ability to gather requirements to create a user story, and work with the Business Analysts to sign off on requirements. Ability to break down a project/initiative into a series of deliverables (MVP). Experience of building a roadmap, and knowledge about producing ‘Golden thread’ to show how all initiatives deliver on the strategic objectives of the company. Knowledge of how to gather non-functional requirements to ensure we are building scalable and performative products and features. Understanding of who our customers are and ability to derive data to support changes in the roadmap. Work with data, for example SQL and analysis in MS Excel. An understanding of the financial markets, present and emerging trends. Experience of working in a Product role – preferably digital Product. Comfortable working on problem statements or KPIs set by your stakeholders and transforming them into features ready for prioritisation. Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) is desirable. SAFE Agile Certification is desirable. Our promise to you…

We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and a number of colleague discounts! We will give you the training to ensure you succeed in your role and plenty of internal opportunities to progress your career (around 40% of our recruitment comes from internal promotions!). We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible. Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates.. Good luck!
