We are now looking for a Product Support Engineer to join our team working for a better future. The preferred location for the position is in Leicester, UK. What you will be doing This is a Marine Service Engineer role in which the main objectives are to repair our marine sensors and provide technical assistance as part of the Global Support Team, but also to develop new markets and customers for Guidance's marine product portfolio. The role is based in our Leicester office and while much of our current customer base is based in this region, the new market development aspect of the role will likely involve travel. As Product Support Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities: Troubleshooting, repair, upgrade, and maintenance of Guidance Marine position reference products from a hardware and software perspective. This will be done both in our workshop and at customer sites including offshore vessels. Providing remote technical assistance to offshore vessels as part of our Global Support Team. Assisting the Business Development and Engineering teams with bringing new products to market. This will include installation of equipment and offshore trials. Accurately document and report on repair activities supporting Repair Case management and the RMA process. This will include creation of initial repair evaluation reports, providing quotation information to customers, completing repair and test reports, and maintaining repairs system database. Timely reporting of accurate information is crucial to this role to enable the provision of an efficient repairs service and to agree priorities with the Service Manager. Developing and maintaining repair methods and work instructions for all products in line with ongoing product development to deliver a clear repair strategy for each product returned relative to age and condition. Managing general section management tasks including ensuring safety and quality policies are followed, materials are accurately managed, and team workload is managed. To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: Confidence in the assembly and testing of mechanical and electronic equipment. Experience in equipment testing, electronics programming, recording and basic analysis of test data, electronic board level assembly, and fault finding. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics. Ability to effectively communicate product ideas. Excellent communication skills with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to contribute positively to continuous improvements and be responsible for elements of the improvement process. High attention to detail. A proactive individual who is not afraid to get stuck in. Good time management and organization skills - able to effectively manage a dynamic workload. Able to work effectively and efficiently independently and as part of a team. Willingness to travel approximately 60% of your time to meet with our customers around the world. The team operates an on-call customer technical support rota for weekend cover via email (Saturday and Sunday 0800-2000) for which additional premiums are paid. Why you and us?
