About the Role
A leading precision engineering company is seeking a Production Engineer to join their team in Leeds. This position is perfect for a time-served engineer with strong expertise in CAD/CAM, five-axis machining, and a thorough understanding of GD&T. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role focuses on optimising production processes, supporting CAD/CAM programming, and preparing to transition into a production control-focused position.
Key Responsibilities
Maximise production efficiency and minimise waste. Create and optimise CNC programs, with a focus on five-axis machining. Collaborate with the sales team to prepare quotations for new products. Train and mentor the engineering team, supporting their development in production control. Improve setup times and ensure optimal machine utilisation. Evaluate bills of materials and oversee production documentation. Champion safety and quality best practices across all operations.
Key Requirements Recognised engineering apprenticeship qualification (time-served). Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Extensive knowledge of CAD/CAM, ideally FeatureCAM. Experience with five-axis machining is essential. Experience machining exotic materials is advantageous. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and an interest in transitioning into production control.
