My client, a FMCG manufacturer based in the Caerphilly area, is currently looking for a Production Manager to oversee the manufacturing processes on the night shift. You will be responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Manufacture all products according to plan, specification, and quality whilst minimising waste. Ensuring that all the above are done as cost-effectively as possible using a range of "Modern Lean Manufacturing" techniques. Have an understanding of the next day, and coming week's and months requirements in terms of production, resources, skills, and materials. Communicate and take action as appropriate to all KPI's: Labour costs, including yield, wastage, customer service, plan completion, quality reports, absence, (and all other associated KPI's), complete site communications. Ensure all team members are suitably trained; understand their objectives, the standards required, are reliable and punctual in their attendance, and are motivated to the job. Ensure all employees are trained and signed off on all relevant tasks. Liaise with the training department to ensure training records are up to date and training plans are in place for individuals as required. For each and every key role, ensure you have suitably trained deputy (minimum) or deputies to cover any case of absence (planned or unplanned). Have responsibility for performance, conduct, attendance and timekeeping, investigations, suspending (if required), and disciplinary (up to dismissal level with HR support) matters for all employees under your control. Liaise with your Head of Operations on any recruitment issues. Have a process in place to ensure that all employees complete a return to work form after any absence (including holiday, unauthorized absence, and sick absence); keep your manager up to date of any employees with short term or long term absence problems. Play a leading role in the department's Tiered meetings. Ensure all documentation and IT system information required (production, H&S, and technical) is completed and forwarded to the appropriate parties in a timely and accurate fashion. Maintain a safe working environment; including clean and tidy working areas and ensuring all employees are wearing the correct PPE from a safety and food safety perspective. Ensure areas are Audit ready & all staff are working to the SSOW procedures and are involved in the health and safety improvement activities. Work with the New Product Development team and the technical team to successfully carry out production trials and launch new products. Liaise with all other departments as appropriate to find solutions to problems. Wherever possible, provide solutions to problems with adhering to the company policies, procedures, or specifications. Otherwise, advise Head of Operations of any issues beyond your control; however, you must still have responsibility for ensuring that actions or answers are provided for your problem. Job Requirements: Experience as a Production Manager in FMCG industry. Have a strong background in supply chain management, continuous improvement, and mechanical knowledge, and be able to drive operational excellence. Able to work night shift, 6pm-6am working 7 days a fortnight. Based in a commutable distance from Caerphilly. Eligible to work in the UK. Salary & Benefits: Full benefits to be discussed.
