Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Production Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves ensuring smooth daily operations and system integrity for multiple client environments in a fully remote capacity. As a Production Operations Engineer, you will work with PowerShell and T-SQL as key tools for automation, reporting, and troubleshooting to maintain and improve operational efficiency. You will support client IT infrastructure, manage server and application performance, and develop solutions to streamline our processes and increase reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support & Incident Management
- Monitor and maintain client production environments, ensuring optimal system performance, availability, and reliability.
- Respond to alerts, troubleshoot issues, and resolve production incidents with an emphasis on minimizing downtime and impact.
- Use PowerShell and T-SQL for scripting, automation, and data analysis to streamline incident resolution.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve system efficiency.
- Build T-SQL queries for data management, reporting, and optimizing database operations.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify areas for automation within production environments.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor system performance metrics and logs to proactively identify potential issues or performance bottlenecks.
- Analyze database performance using T-SQL and recommend optimizations to enhance efficiency.
- Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, SolarWinds, etc.) and create custom scripts for tailored monitoring solutions.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Document operational processes, incident resolutions, and best practices to build a robust knowledge base.
- Identify and implement process improvements, enhancing efficiency, reliability, and operational standards.
- Develop documentation for custom scripts and procedures to support knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with DevOps, Development, and Service Desk teams to implement and support operational projects.
- Provide support for planned maintenance and system upgrades, ensuring minimal client disruption.
- Engage with clients to understand their specific needs and align operations with their business goals.
Key Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Production Operations or System Administration role within an MSP or similar environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PowerShell for scripting, automation, and administration tasks.
- Strong experience with T-SQL for database management, querying, and performance optimization.
- Experience with production-level monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) is a plus.
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and optimize performance within production environments.
- Analytical mindset with experience using data to diagnose issues and improve system operations.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear documentation and effective client interactions.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Certifications: (Preferred but not required)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Network+, or similar)
