Professional Biology Tutor Job Duties
The purpose of the Professional Biology Tutor will be to support student success through tutoring and mentoring. In addition to tutoring Biology, the expectation is that the professional tutor will also be able to tutor through College Algebra within two years of hire date. The position requires flexible work hours which will include tutoring on the Rose Hill, Andover, and El Dorado campuses.
NOTE: This is a 10-month position, with approximately 40 days off outside of college holidays during a calendar year. The expectation is that tutoring occurs when there are face-to-face classes in progress, so those days will be given when there are no face-to-face classes scheduled. Face-to-face classes also occur during the summer months. This is a grant-funded position.

Must have strong organizational and communication skills. Must work well in a team environment and have excellent interpersonal skills. Must exercise independent judgment and demonstrate good time management skills. Must exhibit flexibility in scheduling of tasks and responsibilities. Must be able to tutor all biology courses through Microbiology and mathematics courses through college algebra, with limited review and increasing expertise. Required Experience
One year of teaching or professional tutoring in biology or a related field. Experience preferred in competency-based instruction, computer-assisted instruction and learning management systems. Required Educational Background
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biology or related field is required. Supplemental Questions
