This is a part-time role (0.5wte) to lead the neuropsychology department in a local specialist UKROC level 2b unit with 12 beds. The service is provided by the Royal Devon Universities Healthcare Trust (RDUH) and serves the population of North and East Devon. You will have achieved the practice-based MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology or be in the process of completing this within the next 12 months. The Mardon Centre is a well-established rehabilitation service led by a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine. The post-holder will serve as one of the professional leads in the rehabilitation service and represent neuropsychology at business and governance meetings. The post is supported in service by a part-time 8a clinical psychologist and will be supervised by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. The clinical work involves neuropsychological and psychological assessments, multi-disciplinary formulation, goal planning, psychological therapy, and cognitive rehabilitation for people admitted to the unit with acquired neurological conditions including those with spinal injuries. You will lead on complex mental capacity assessments. Joint working with other professions is actively encouraged. In addition to the clinical team in the Mardon Centre, you will also be supported by the Devon Partnership NHS Trust Clinical Health Psychology & Neuropsychology Service, which is made up of a team of psychologists working in physical healthcare. Main duties of the job

The main responsibility of this role is to lead and co-ordinate Clinical neuropsychology and psychology services provided to the Mardon Centre for Neuro-rehabilitation. The role will work to ensure that neuropsychology and psychology services can support the neuro-rehabilitation services provided by the Royal Devon NHS University Healthcare Trust (RDUHT), who own and operate the centre. Working at an operational and highly specialist clinical level, the post-holder will ensure that the clinical neuropsychological rehabilitation service delivers high clinical standards, makes best use of available resources, and provides and develops evidence-based practice that meets the needs of people using the service. The post-holder will also support the overall strategic lead and other professional leads linked to the Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology team within Devon Partnership NHS Trust. This will include ensuring appropriate overall governance for the range of services held within the team, taking on relevant supervisory responsibilities and providing clinical leadership. Job responsibilities

This will be achieved in this post through undertaking the following areas of responsibility: To provide a highly specialist clinical service to people with neurological conditions admitted for inpatient neurological rehabilitation, who will require specialist neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation, requiring a range of assessments and intervention models. To support and co-ordinate with local rehabilitation services, mental health services and multi-disciplinary teams regarding post-discharge neuro/psychological client care. To support operational management functions including line management, staff recruitment, service governance, and policy implementation. To liaise with key stakeholders of the service in monitoring, evaluating and developing the service. To attend the monthly Mardon service governance and business meetings representing psychology. To provide psychological representation to the Mardon MDT Leadership team as psychology professional lead for the service. To contribute to the Service Level Agreement agenda related to the DPT contract for the RDUHT Mardon Neuro-rehabilitation psychology service. To ensure the smooth running of the Mardon neuropsychology service. To support the Strategic Lead of the service by undertaking service development and appropriate redesign projects and coordinating the resulting work within the team, proposing and implementing any policy changes within this domain. To ensure ongoing quality of service by undertaking relevant audit and quality improvement work. To take a broader psychological approach to developing capacity of the workforce, inputting to planning, coordinating and supporting delivery of a range of activities that build capacity for psychological interventions in the acute hospitals Trusts including consultation, reflective practice, supervision, and training. To work to embed practice-based evidence and evidence-based practice across service areas. This will include working with people using the service to ensure their involvement in service design and evaluation. To work with the service manager to ensure the smooth running and appropriate governance of the wider health and neuropsychology service. The post-holder will work collaboratively to ensure a whole systems integrated approach to service delivery and development. All staff within the Clinical Health Psychology & Neuropsychology service will be responsible for ensuring involvement and experience, social inclusion, and race equality agendas inform and support their work. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures. Person Specification

Qualifications

Qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent), eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychologist Status in the British Psychological Society. Or Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology as accredited by the HPC (or equivalent qualifications as assessed by the HPC). Or Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (or equivalent as assessed by the HPC). Registration with HCPC/UKCP/Other Specialist regulatory body. Evidence of working towards or qualification in BPS DoN Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN). Knowledge & Skills

Excellent verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership qualities, resilience, and ability to handle ambiguity and uncertainty. Skills in managing conflict, negotiation, and achieving consensus in complex situations in the pursuit of agreed strategic aims. Ability to integrate and manipulate complex data, interpret this information, and write comprehensive reports. Ability to make highly skilled evaluations and decisions; and take a long-term perspective. Proven organisational, planning, and time management skills. Ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines. Presentable. Calm, methodical approach, friendly but concise. Advanced psychological assessment and formulation skills including risk assessment. Experience

Further training or equivalent experience in either Clinical Health Psychology or Neuropsychology. Further training in at least one psychological therapy. Further training or experience in delivering training programmes. Experience of specialist psychological assessment (including neuropsychological) and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, and inpatient settings. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity. Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision. Experience in undertaking leadership roles within clinical psychology/psychological therapy services in the NHS and in contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies and clinical policies in multi-disciplinary, multi-agency contexts.
