Programme Planner

Copello are working with a Defence client who are looking for a Programme Planner to be based in Buckinghamshire. We are looking for someone who has previous experience in planning complex programmes and can provide strong leadership in developing the programmes planning and controlling capability.

As a project programme planner, you will be responsible for implementing robust plans, developing common methodologies and controls to guide the programmes to successful completion. You will be able to establish and maintain a strong rapport internally as well as with clients, contractors and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent and demonstrable leadership, communication and time management skills as well as a strong will to get things done.

Responsibilities

Lead on planning activity and develop integrated schedules aligned with the company's internal governance process whilst developing best practice in planning and reporting. Integrate plans from Key suppliers into an IMS and report on variations/remedial actions required. Provide expert advice on planning for team members and project community. Challenge and test project assumptions to ensure that plans are realistic and achievable. Support the project/programme manager to identify options to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, resource levelling and rescheduling of activities as well as creating “what-if” programmes for consideration. Ensure clear translation of project requirements, constraints and prerequisites within the programme schedules. Ensure that stakeholder responsibilities and needs are understood and addressed in reporting arrangements. Monitor and analyse information, reporting progress, slippage and highlighting areas of risk and opportunity. Provide expert advice on planning processes throughout the lifecycle of the project. Provide Earned value reporting to the Programme/Project Managers as well as monthly reporting packs. Requirements

Relevant degree within a technical, business or Project Management field. Experience either as a programme planner or a senior planner. At least 3-5 years' experience planning major projects within a technical environment. Expert in the use of Microsoft Project planning tool. Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to present technical and complex information clearly and concisely at a level appropriate to the target audience. Ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints in a fast paced, rapidly evolving environment. Experience managing and influencing internal and client interfaces. Strong commercial and contractual awareness. Expert in the use of Primavera planning tools and methodologies. Desirables

PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification. Planning, monitoring & control qualifications. Experience planning CAT 2 & 3 Projects. Military/defence experience. Please note SC clearance is required for this role.
