Divisional Manager - Legal Finance & Accounting
Ambition are supporting a leading law firm with their recruitment for an experienced Project Accountant to join their Cardiff finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will support several finance transformation projects and provide backfill for management accounts, reporting, budgeting, and reforecasting functions. Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation of new dashboards for data provision to department heads, partners, and fee earners. Oversee the migration to a new reporting platform, ensuring accurate report development. Support the implementation of new budgeting, reforecasting, and cash flow management software. Produce and review monthly management accounts reports. Manage the firm's budgeting and reforecast processes. Lead the annual review of charge-out rates. Involve in profitability reporting and statutory reporting, including financial statement production. Assist in audit planning, fieldwork, and financial statement sign-off. Support partnership tax aspects and handle ad-hoc internal financial reporting queries. Approve banking transactions as needed. Provide cover for team members during absences. Participate in other ad-hoc projects as they arise. Experience and Skills Required: Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent). Strong IT skills, with excellent knowledge of MS Excel, data extraction and analysis techniques, and leading accounting packages (e.g., Elite/SAP). Proven track record in practice management/accounting systems and database query techniques. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvements. Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to engage actively in the business. Experience in law firms or professional practices is advantageous but not essential.
