Job Summary:

As a Project Architect, you will be responsible for leading architectural design, coordinating the design team, and overseeing contract administration for assigned projects. You will manage the development of commercial activities and contribute to business development initiatives. Your role will focus on the application of building science and technology across architectural, interiors, and construction projects, ensuring the delivery of innovative, technically sound, and aesthetically pleasing solutions.

As an ARB Chartered Architect, you will continually enhance your knowledge in design, building science, and technology to ensure high standards of work. Technical competency in BIM and Revit is essential for this role, alongside experience in managing construction projects and architectural contracts. You will also play a significant role in post-construction activities, such as Soft Landings, and maintain a professional adherence to Codes of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

Managerial Input (10%):

Project Delivery (70%):

Project Inception: Assess client needs, produce feasibility studies, manage surveys, and ensure project briefs are well-defined. Project Planning: Develop project briefs, manage health and safety requirements, and liaise with statutory authorities. Design Process: Lead the design process, ensuring all project design proposals are coordinated and meet client expectations. Oversee material selection, specifications, and production information. Contract Management: Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and professional standards throughout the project lifecycle. Administer building contracts, oversee project certification, and manage project handovers. Professional Practice: Provide professional guidance to clients and teams, engage in Continuing Professional Development, and maintain technical competency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.

Technical Competence:

Ensure technical knowledge (minimum 5 years post-ARB certification) meets industry standards. Maintain high technical standards for project delivery, adhering to client briefs and health, safety, and environmental regulations. Lead the technical delivery of projects up to £5 million, and collaborate on larger projects. Promote technical competency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM across the team.

Commercial Activities (10%):

Assist in the commercial management of projects, ensuring budgets, timelines, and gross margin targets are met. Promote client relationships and ensure timely invoicing and cash flow. Monitor project progress, identify issues, and manage change control procedures. Maintain accurate records on Workbench and assist in updating forecasts and project schedules.

Business Development (10%):

Support the development of new business opportunities by preparing competitive Expressions of Interest, PQQs, ITTs, and fee bids. Contribute to marketing materials, including website news and case studies. Maintain relationships with clients and influencers to support the growth of the architectural division and the broader company group.

Job Requirements/Person Specification:

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of professional practice post-ARB certification. Strong experience with CAD, Revit, BIM, and other industry-standard tools (training will be provided as required). Demonstrated experience in client management and business development.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Proficiency in CAD, Revit, BIM, and AutoCAD. Experience with BIM Level 2 (training provided as required). Knowledge of architectural processes, including project management, design, contract administration, and statutory approvals.

Educational Requirements and Professional Qualifications:

First and Second degrees (RIBA Part I & II exemptions) and RIBA Part III or equivalent. ARB Certification.
