Project Engineer Salary: 50,000 per annum Location: Coventry, West Midlands Working hours: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday Gi Group are looking for an experienced Project Engineer on behalf of a leading Manufacturer. Our client manufactures drive axles and multi-speed gearboxes. This is a great opportunity to progress into an Engineering Manager role in the near future. The purpose of the role is to provide technical advice and solutions, whilst performing engineering and administrative work of the highest complexity. The engineer will prepare, manage and modify engineering projects including specification, design, life cycle cost, engineering reports, drawings and any other visual aids. We are looking for: Knowledge of cast irons, steel and aluminium Experience leading a team Ability to read technical drawings and complete calculations Understanding of gears Knowledge of rotating products, drivelines, ground support Qualification within engineering or product design Role responsibilities: Cover the concept, specification, tender, and development of new projects or components Identify and implement improvements of current and future products Identify new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs Working on specialist, bespoke, and custom designs Design the aesthetics, materials, and functionality of projects and input bill of materials ready for quotes Concessions of existing products Carry out failure analysis Use SolidWorks CAD and CAM systems to design and visualise projects Liaise with the design and operations team to ensure drawings are understood and interpreted correctly Review change requests of existing products, change where applicable Communicate effectively with the clients, colleagues, and contractors involved in a project Assist the team effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard, and to budget. Understand and comply with environmental and safety regulations. Collaborate with quality and operations teams to maximize opportunities
