The underwriting team provides insurance for a wide range of delegated authority coverages in North America, United Kingdom and the rest of the world. Insurance coverage provide includes personal property, commercial property, commercial automobile property damage and commercial auto liability. Our underwriters have extensive experience and are market leading experts in their specialist areas. The wide variety of coverage provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with numerous internal and external stakeholders on claims across different risks, jurisdictions and industries. Canopius is seeking a motivated and detailed oriented claims professional with knowledge of handling claims in the London insurance market. The individual will proactively adjust property binder claims from their initial notification through settlement. The successful candidate will need to act in accordance with, drive, and further the aims set out in the Canopius claims vision: “to continually push the boundaries of customer excellence through an empowered, collaborative and innovative approach to claims; to be the envy of the market”. Responsibilities will include: Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the Casualty portfolio. Proactively adjust claims within your claims authority and in accordance with the Canopius Claims Vision and claims manual; ensuring and delivering the very highest service to all our customers by effectively driving claims through to resolution. Ensure that sufficient financial provisions, in accordance with the Canopius reserving philosophy, are held for all claims within your portfolio. Develop collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; in particular with the underwriters and actuaries. Ensure delegated claims are managed in accordance with Canopius’ claims values; ensuring effective technical oversight of TPAs/Service Providers via regular contact meetings, peer reviews, technical file reviews and generally sharing of best practice. Instruct and proactively work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to ensure the best outcomes whilst controlling costs and reducing claims leakage Skills and experience: A claims handler with prior experience of North America and UK delegated claims handling. Understanding of policy coverage, claims negotiation skills and claims strategy. Understanding and applying legal, regulatory and territorial issues relating to the policy wordings. Ability to prioritise and proactively meet deadlines. Ability to manage complex issues and problems, and escalateappropriately. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the Lloyd’s insurance market, but this is not essential. A desire for excellence and high personal standards. Excellent, impactful communication – open, honest, warm and respectful. Acting with honesty, integrity and fairness at all times. Willingness to take responsibility and accountability.
