As a council, we're going through tremendous change, radically reshaping and renewing our organisation as a result of financial challenges. We are essentially building a brand new council - one that is focused on getting things right for its residents, while delivering very differently and within a sustainable financial envelope. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a new and exciting role. Ideally, you will have local government experience, but we also welcome applications from those who come from the private sector. We are looking for a full-time Lawyer to join our Commercial, Property & Planning legal team and play a key role in the successful delivery of quality legal services to the Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for a varied and intellectually challenging caseload. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to work across all areas of commercial and residential property law, including high value and complex transactions. You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (CILEX), with 5-10 years PQE. The grade is based on the level of experience, and the Legal team has adopted a career progression scheme to support progression to higher grades. Croydon Council is a hybrid working organisation and supports flexible and remote working.

Closing date: Sunday 29th December 2024 @ 11.59pm Equal opportunities Croydon Council is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. Subject to business needs, we will be pleased to consider applications from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working, whereby staff attend the workplace for part of their working week and work from home, or elsewhere, remotely for the rest of the time. As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role. Croydon Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
