Lead the technical and pricing aspects of the tender process from the initial receipt of an enquiry through to the final submission. Interpretation of Project Documents:
Review and interpret specifications, drawings, design briefs, and scope of works documents to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements. Client and Stakeholder Liaison:
Maintain communication with clients, design consultants, suppliers, and sub-contractors throughout the tender process to ensure clarity and alignment with project goals. Quotation Management:
Obtain and evaluate quotes for materials, plant, and sub-contractors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality. Tender Documentation Preparation:
Compile all necessary technical documentation to form comprehensive tender packages in line with client specifications. Site Surveys and Meetings:
Conduct site surveys and attend tender review meetings with clients to gather all necessary information and provide accurate cost estimates. Project Feasibility Analysis:
Assess projects based on scope of works, technical drawings, schematics, or design intent, and report on project feasibility, considering risks and rewards. Cost Estimation:
Produce detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, and preliminary items, categorized by sections. Coordination with Procurement and Design Teams:
Collaborate with procurement and design teams to determine the commercial and qualitative suitability of products. Scope of Works Creation:
Develop a comprehensive scope of works for each project, including any inclusions, exclusions, and initial material schedules. Variation Costing:
Provide cost estimates for variations to contracts that arise during the design and construction phases of projects. Process Improvement:
Continuously improve existing estimating systems to increase accuracy and standardization. Skills and experience ·Experience within an M&E estimating, design or project management role. Specific experience with heat pumps is desirable. ·Minimum HND level qualification in an engineering discipline. ·Excellent attention to detail – being able to read and interpret technical information and understand how it impacts the project. ·Good verbal and written communication skills. ·Excellent numeracy skills. ·Good IT skills – proficient in Microsoft products especially Excel and Word. Experience using CAD (Autodesk) would be beneficial. ·Understanding of the wider construction industry would be advantageous especially requirements under CDM2015.
