We are seeking a Protection and Control (P&C) commissioning engineer to join our Power Networks team within our Net Zero Energy Business. This position could be home-based (or based from one of our UK offices in Birmingham, Glasgow, Epsom or Leeds), with site-time across the UK expected. Join us in building a carbon-free future. The sector must contend with high penetration of modern generation, transmission and distribution technologies, energy storage, and prepare for the increased demand associated with the electrification of transport and heat as the country progresses along the decarbonisation pathway. As part of the Net Zero agenda, networks have a crucial role in delivering the renewable energy which is required to be connected. The transmission network operators have secured c.£8bn as part of the RIIO T2 package. You will be working within our Power Networks team as a P&C commissioning engineer to oversee the installation and commissioning stages of projects and to resolve technical issues at sites. You will enjoy troubleshooting and have a can-do attitude to resolve issues. Examples of the types of work you may be involved in:
Commissioning the protection and control aspects of different projects. Coordinating with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers as required. Attending site visits, FAT, and SAT as required. What you can bring?
In addition to strong communication and problem-solving skills, key attributes include: HND or degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience. Experience in commissioning P&C of substations in the UK (NG and/or SSE). BP141 or equivalent authorized or ability to do so. A high adherence to safety and quality regulations.
