Prototype Development Engineer

to join our dynamic team. You will take the lead in creating and testing innovative products that will shape the future of heating in homes and businesses across the UK. Working in our development workshop, you will design, test, and refine new prototypes, ensuring they meet industry standards and contribute to our commitment to decarbonisation. This hands-on role is perfect for someone passionate about practical problem-solving, engineering, and innovation. Your Key Responsibilities: Lead the building and testing of new prototype products. Oversee and manage the workshop, ensuring tools and equipment are maintained and work is delivered on time and to budget. Design, build, and operate test rigs, and perform tests in line with recognised industry standards to validate product performance. Provide mentorship and guidance to apprentice engineers, delegating tasks and helping them develop their skills. Lead test programs and projects, engaging in internal stakeholder discussions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, supporting new product development (NPD) processes and participating in stage gate reviews. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry best practices. About You Previous experience in a similar or transferable role. Exceptional practical engineering skills. A track record of problem-solving, with the ability to think creatively when designing and testing products. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for working collaboratively and mentoring others. How will Kensa support you?
