If you are looking for an exciting opportunity, our service has expanded and there are vacancies for band 6 psychiatric liaison practitioners. We are based in the acute hospital and provide an assessment and signposting service. Our service is core 24 and is accredited by the RCPsych.

Our team is dynamic, culturally diverse, inclusive, very supportive and creative. We collaborate with our colleagues in the acute hospital. We value feedback from our service users and family/carers. This role attracts a local Retention Premium of £500 payable annually after 3 years of service in the team and each year thereafter, as well as a Recruitment Premium of £3,000 payable on appointment.

Main duties of the job

To utilise a range of specialist skills appropriate to the needs of individual patients and the clinical setting in which they are required to be seen. To co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of person-centered healthcare to a designated group of people who use our services, using complex clinical decision-making where appropriate. To be responsible for the full assessment of the psychiatric/psychosocial needs of those patients who have been referred to the service, including the comprehensive assessment of risks to self and others. To be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of robust discharge plans based on a clear assessment and formulation of the person's needs, which may include urgent referral to secondary mental health services, social, and voluntary services. To work as a member of the MDT in assessing and planning care and responding to changes in people who use our services. To act in a manner that respects the customs, individuality, values, sexuality, and spiritual beliefs, actively supporting the individual to fulfil these. To ensure provision of therapeutic activities, emotional support, and stability to clients to ensure effective engagement while maintaining professional boundaries. To create, develop, and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff, with other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery. To act as a role model in providing a service for people with mental health problems within a hospital setting.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

1 years' experience post qualification working with people with mental health problems. Evidence of CPD.

Desirable

Practice Assessor and Supervisor. Independent assessment skills, i.e., CMHRS duty, HTT assessment, liaison assessment or similar.

Qualifications

Essential

Professional Qualification as RMN/RN (Mental Health) or Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with professional registration (NMC/HCPC). Willingness to complete Mentorship course.
