Responsibilities include covering and treating behavioral health patients in the Emergency Department and providing consultative services for patients with potential/definitive co-morbid psychiatric illnesses admitted to the medical/surgical floors (will be treating a significant number of geriatric patients with behavioral health issues). The candidate must possess analytical skills to evaluate care needs, gather relevant clinical data, evaluate laboratory data, and make sound clinical recommendations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are required. Candidates must exhibit good judgment and tact in dealing with patients, families, and working with multidisciplinary teams. Comfort in working independently, with telephonic back-up from a psychiatrist, is necessary. Preferably, candidates should have inpatient and/or ED experience.
