Principal Practitioner Psychologist Band 8b or Preceptorship 8a to 8b - East Sussex Rehabilitation Services. East Sussex mental health services have recently been awarded an uplift in the funding of services for people with psychosis. As part of this, we are thrilled to be able to recruit an 8b Principal Psychologist. This new post will provide clinical input and leadership for the psychological components of our community and inpatient rehabilitation services. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of something new, a project aimed at supporting service users on their own individual recovery journey as part of the East Sussex Rehabilitation Pathway. We would like to invite you to play a leading role in this established service that aims to provide high-quality clinical care for patients across East Sussex who experience psychosis. You would be joining a strong network of clinicians interested in psychosis across the trust and within East Sussex. We are part of national research trials on psychological interventions for people with psychosis, and this is something you could benefit from. Main Duties of the Job

This exciting and rewarding opportunity is open to people seeking promotion from a lower banding or looking for a new challenge at the principal level. For psychologists who are currently working at more junior levels, we would support a preceptorship plan from 8a to 8b. This will be to a very recently agreed trust-wide protocol reflecting our professional commitment to supporting the development of our staff. We are looking for a clinician who has an interest in working with clients experiencing psychosis and who can demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to providing evidence-based, trauma-informed, high-quality clinical approaches and interventions. The area covered by this post is East Sussex, working across the locality who are also peripatetic working within their roles. The post will be based across both Amberstone Hospital in Hailsham and St Marys House in Eastbourne. About Us

We are seeking an enthusiastic person who has experience of and interest in working with people who have severe and enduring mental health problems within a recovery-oriented & trauma-informed approach. You would be a key member of the multidisciplinary team providing assessment, case management, and evidence-based interventions for psychosis, including CBT for psychosis, Family Intervention & Trauma therapy. You will also support the team with formulation and reflective practice. If you are passionate about finding creative ways to engage people with psychosis and offer evidence-based interventions and work collaboratively with the wider MDT, we would love to hear from you. Job Responsibilities

Our trust has an excellent reputation for offering a wide range of CPD, and the post holder will have the opportunity to develop special interests and expertise in line with service objectives. You will receive clinical & professional supervision from an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist and will have the opportunity to make links with other Practitioner Psychologists and Psychological Practitioners across East Sussex & the wider Trust. Person Specification

Qualifications

Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK] as approved by the HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology. Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC). Knowledge/Experience

Significant assessed experience of working as a qualified psychologist. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient, and residential care settings, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology. Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group. Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups. Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies. Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
