(Learning Support Assistants)
in one of our specialist schools for children who have an EHCP for their trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, ADHD, ADD, OCD and several more associated conditions.
The LSA role is aimed at sincere Psychology/ Criminology/ Sociology/ Education studies Graduates looking to gain practical experience within the field. This role will help you with your aspirations within Clinical Psychology, Advocacy, and Youth/Social Justice, and for those trying to gain experience before entering the world of Teaching, giving you daily exposure to just how nuanced and vital this role is.
Key Questions for LSA Role: 1. Can you build relationships that are based on comfort through a Restorative approach? 2. Can you demonstrate the value of an education to the students?
These are two key aspects of this role. You must be sincere and understand that this role, and similar roles, are very challenging. Each child has a different context for their mental health and trauma, their own idiosyncrasies, cultures, and home lives that will be very different from each other. Therefore, building comfort and relationships through a restorative model is vital and should never be overlooked.
It is essential that you can QUALIFY and even more importantly, DISQUALIFY the SEN and Mental Health sectors for yourself. Large provision of 60 children, boys, and girls, aged 5-16 Working with outstanding SEN Professionals and like-minded Psychology and Criminology graduates Clinical Psychologists on site, either working pro bono or brought in from outside agencies Potential of shadowing specialists, dependent on their schedule and each child's context and situation Classes of no more than 6, with a mixture of 1:1 and small group work in class, dependent on the lesson and individual contexts Focus on Key and Personal Skills, Sports, Cooking, Technology, Music, Drama, Photography and Art All training and support provided by the school with their excellent training system. Important Note:
This role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
