About the Role:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Psychology Graduates to fill a classroom-based role within a supportive school environment in Rochdale, Lancashire. As a Classroom Support Specialist, you will play an instrumental role in understanding and addressing the underlying behaviours of students with diverse needs. The position requires close collaboration with teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to deliver effective 1:1 support and interventions that contribute to a positive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with individual students or small groups to provide tailored support and implement behavioural strategies.

Analyse and understand the root causes of pupil behaviours and develop appropriate responses.

Assist in creating an inclusive educational setting that recognizes and accommodates individual learning needs.

Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teachers and the SENCO.

Monitor and report on the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO.

Utilize psychological principles and research to inform interventions and support strategies.

Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when handling student information and any behavioural incidents.

Qualifications and Skills:

A degree in Psychology or related field.

Understanding of child development and behavioural management techniques.

A patient, empathetic approach with a strong desire to support children’s learning and wellbeing.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and parents.

The capacity to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

A proactive and creative problem-solver who can adapt to dynamic situations.

Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth setting is desirable.
