This is an exciting new role to work for Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies providing in-house psychotherapy services to make a positive improvement to the overall health and wellbeing of our police officers and staff. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate psychotherapist to join our dedicated team, providing vital mental health support to individuals and teams. As a psychotherapist within our Constabularies, you will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional wellbeing of our personnel, helping them navigate the unique challenges of a career in law enforcement. The main activities of the role are:- Provide therapy using a wide range of methods and models support to officers and staff working for the constabularies. Provide one to one support with emphasis on face-to-face provision to individuals and teams. Collaborating closely with other clinical staff members of team to ensure individuals are provided the best support. Maintain openness about issues of confidentiality and consent, care standards, complaints procedures and evaluative methods with individuals, their managers and other professionals. Developing clinical and non-clinical reports and correspondence for review by supervisors/managers when appropriate. Liaising closely with other professional agencies involved in an individual’s care as appropriate. Contributing to training and support of staff and officers. Assisting in the design and implementation of service development projects within Workplace Health and Wellbeing as required. Support the provision of TRiM (Trauma Risk Management) support for officers and staff exposed to Trauma. Provide therapeutic support for officers and staff exposed to trauma at all stages. Maintain appropriate records on the Workplace Health clinical software. Support and where required, lead on psychological screening and structured interviews for high-risk roles. Provide short notice support (debriefing) following highly challenging and/or traumatic incidents requiring policing response. Undertaking appropriate research and literature reviews. Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management. It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria: Hold a degree in clinical psychology or minimum equivalent and have an Accredited postgraduate qualification (Level 7) recognised by at least one of the following: a. United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) b. British Psychoanalytic Council Be registered as a clinical psychologist or psychotherapist with a recognised national body Have experience of working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, preferably within policing or emergency services Be committed to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in trauma informed practice Be proficient in maintaining accurate and confidential records and documentation Have effective communication skills with the ability to retain a clear, professional approach with staff and officers of all levels and influencing skills to challenge perceptions and presentation of symptoms, conditions etc Have the ability to travel throughout Norfolk and Suffolk to fulfil the requirements of the role It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria: Experience of working in a police occupational health environment Experience and delivery of TRiM Experience of NHS and non-NHS workplaces/occupational health settings If you are passionate about supporting the mental health of those who serve the public and are ready to make a positive impact, we would love to hear from you.
