Introduction

At RSA, we believe insurance is about people, not things. We provide our inspiring colleagues the support and opportunity to grow together, shape the future, and win as a team. We are currently recruiting for a Public Affairs & Policy Manager to join our established and experienced External Affairs team here at RSA on a hybrid basis. Your role

As Public Affairs and Policy Manager at RSA, you will play a critical role in promoting and enhancing the company’s reputation among key political stakeholders. You will manage and deliver impactful public affairs campaigns that engage with policymakers in Westminster, Whitehall, and other external bodies. Working closely with the Head of External Affairs, you will shape and implement a strategic public affairs plan that positions RSA as a leading Commercial Lines and Specialty Lines insurer, driving both business growth and policy innovation. Your work will involve building relationships with parliamentarians, civil servants, and external agencies to support RSA’s objectives. You’ll provide political insights, monitoring, and analysis, while collaborating across the business to develop agile policy positions and responses to political developments. You will also support senior colleagues with political engagements, such as preparing for Select Committees and drafting policy positions. In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to influence RSA’s external communications, working closely with the Brand and Communications team to ensure alignment and consistency across public affairs, media relations, and corporate messaging. If you have a passion for public affairs, a deep understanding of the political landscape, and experience in a regulated sector, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape RSA’s reputation and policy direction. About you

You are a public affairs professional with extensive experience in communication, engagement, or political environments. You possess a good understanding of the legislative and regulatory frameworks affecting the insurance and financial services sectors and have a keen interest in shaping public policy. Your ability to build and maintain relationships with political stakeholders, including parliamentarians, civil servants, and regulatory bodies, sets you apart as a trusted advisor. With proven experience in managing public affairs campaigns, you excel at crafting policy positions that align with business objectives while addressing wider regulatory and political challenges. You’re adept at working across teams, engaging with senior leaders, and delivering insights that shape decision-making. In addition to your policy expertise, you bring communication and collaboration skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues from different departments, including media relations and digital communications. You thrive in dynamic environments, where you can take ownership of projects and motivate others. If you are ready to lead strategic public affairs projects for a major insurer and are driven by a desire to influence the political landscape, this role will provide you with the platform to make a real impact. What we offer you

At RSA we put our people first. We have adopted hybrid working as standard, to give you a better work/life balance and an excellent flexible working mindset. That is on top of a comprehensive range of benefits, including pension contributions of up to 11% looking after you now, and in the future. We’ll give you countless opportunities to continuously develop, alongside a diverse and passionate community of experts – the best the industry has to offer. You’ll be empowered to be your best self, do your best work, and make a meaningful impact. Our employee promise allows you to shape the future, win as a team, and grow with us. About Us

We celebrate individuality and it’s important to us that we have a culture where our people feel respected and valued for who they are. We pride ourselves on being accessible and encourage inclusive environments where our people can always give and show the very best of themselves. If you think you would be a great fit for us, but don’t meet all the requirements of the role, please contact us as we’d love to discuss how RSA could be the next step in your career journey.
